Fascia: The Endless Web and why it matters.

As children we are taught almost everything we do in life and yet it is almost always taken for granted that we know how to use our bodies. It is always assumed that we need to learn how to use our brains, but, presumably, using our bodies is doing what comes naturally. No one gives us information on how to create balance, stability or change physical problems, that may arise. Everything from walking, standing, bending, stooping and movement in general are just assumed, never actually instructed fully until there is injury or curiosity. From my work as a bodyworker and massage therapist for over 25 years I can attest to this. Our movement patterns matter and begin very early in development. Dynamic neuromuscular, stabilization or DNS is a modality and study that addresses this. "You must crawl before you learn to walk" Something that I have found through years of work with thousands of individuals is that most holding patterns are related to emotional fear, lack of trust, guarding, or protecting. Another observation that I have made through the years with individuals who have experienced injury or trauma is the same and typically effect the nervous system and vast fascia system.
